Tutorial 2: Ai Style


Thanks for your lovely comments on my icon♥ now I'll reveal to you how to make this icon ... I think quite a dark picture will work and not necessary Ai Otsuka...but you knew that o_o; enough of this chit chat!....

1) Start of with an image resize it and sharpen and cut out the subject like in my previous tutorial and away we go XD!

2) Duplicate this layer and set to soft light, and you should have something like this…

3) Stroke this layer using these settings..

4) Next duplicate this layer and set the blending to Darken…like so

5) The icon is starting to take shape so now we need to enhance the coloring, create a new layer and fill it with a color like this, setting the blending to Darken again.

6) Next create 2 more layers both the same - using the Gradient tool, make a gradient like this: Set the first one to 100% Color Burn and the second to Soft Light at 20%..

7) So far your icon looks like this:

8) Make a new layer and fill this one with a color like this, and set this layer to Exclusion at 20% Opacity.

9) Above add this base by [info]gender blending 100% Soft Light.

10) Create a layer above same as the gradient before in part 5) setting this at blending Soft Light.

11) Finally create a layer under all your previous layers and place this base by [info]gender once again at Normal.
