As requested by several people heres how to create Katie Leung Animated Snow Icon in Photoshop and Imageready.

)Start with your image and crop it and position at where you’d like it to be on the icon, mine’s on the right :) Sharpen it.

)To add more texture place it above the image setting the blending as soft light. Like so.

)Add some light and set it to screen, the lights I used were just city night lights stocks I got from gettyimages.com.

)The next step would be to add some text and accents.

Now for the animation bit ;)

)Take these 15 images and place them above your icon image in order 001 must be under 002 and so on until 015 is at the top, if that makes sense.

)To make the snow fall only over your image just CTRL-CLICK the frame around your image and select inverse by hitting CTRL-SHIFT-I and one by one delete this area from all the snow images.

)Once this is done deselect and set all of the snow images to screen.

)Your icon will now look like this, then hop over to imageready and make all the snow hidden, except for the last one.

)Now you got that done, make a new frame in the animations panel but his time make the second one visible and hide the previous snow and carry on doing this new frame, next icon visible other invisible until the end ._.

)You should have 15 frames in your animation now, click the first frame, hold shift and select the last frame to sect them all and make the tempo slower by making the delay 0.1 seconds…

)Finally optimize your image and save as an animated gif and you’re done, hope this tutorial helped you and wasn’t too stressful, make lovely icons with it and if there are any questions I’ll be more than happy to answer them ;D
